Just to make buyers aware, this product is NOT the full gate unit that is (as of this writing) pictured in Amazon's main photo. That picture shows this product (the 8" height extension) mounted on top of the Cardinal Gate Duragate Cardinal Gates - Duragate - White.
It looks like this picturing problem is not a new one; if you look at the Cardinal Gate 12.5" horizontal extension product Cardinal Gates - 12.5" Extension - White, the picture has been modified to highlight the portion of the gate which is the extension. Hopefully a mililar change will be made to this product to avoid confusion in the futuer.

"Light Keeper"
The icing on the cake. Our two German Shepherds either ate or jumped (sometimes both) every other gate we've tried. We purchased two of these extensions; the dogs took one look at the height and haven't even bothered. The ALL steel construction is perfect: no plastic handles, locks, or catches for the dogs to chew on and "free" themselves from the kitchen.

This extenstion does not go as narrow as the gate it attaches to. You can modify the extension, by cutting it down with a saw. You would think the gate and extension would follow the same width parameters, but that is not the case. Otherwise, the extension works great.

I have a Toy Manchester Terrier and she can jump! We have the gate with two extensions. No problems. It mounted easily by my husband and I put on the extensions. It is easy to use and we now have our dog contained to the hallway when we leave the house. What could be better!

Great item.. We have a Boxer dog and she easily went through the other gates we tried, very sturdy easy installation, looks nice, and very fast shipping. Our 8 year daughter has no problem working the gate as it opens and closes easily. The best feature is this gate DOES NOT have a bottom bar that rests on the floor of which could cause tripping. We rate this gate an easy 4+ stars.
