Description:

Fleabusters Rx for Fleas Plus 3 lb Canister

For more than 20 years, Fleabusters has professionally applied Fleabusters Rx for Fleas Plus products to carpets inside residential homes with pets. Now it is available for pet owners who prefer the "do-it-yourself" method. Made up of a fine, powdery, statically charged substance, Fleabusters Rx for Fleas Plus brushes into carpets and clings to carpet fibers. This prevents the vacuum from removing the powder and results in long-lasting protection.

HOW IT WORKS - Fleabusters Rx for Fleas Plus attaches to larvae as they wiggle past, then dehydrates them. Its neutral pH of 7.0 makes it safe for carpets, but also resists repelling pests. Roaches, ants, fleas, and other household pests can sense and avoid alkaline or acidic substances, but crawl right through the natural pH of Fleabusters products.

WHY IT IS SAFE - The borate powder base makes Fleabusters Rx for Fleas Plus safer than most liquid pesticide alternatives. When installed properly, exposure to pets and their humans is very minimal. In the event of exposure, Fleabusters Rx for Fleas Plus is 33% less toxic than pure boric acid powder products.

WHAT TO DO IF IT DOES NOT WORK - The "One Year" satisfaction guarantee is completely unconditional. Owners can return product for a full refund if not satisfied, or for a replacement if the product fails to last an entire year. If the customer lives in areas with a local Fleabusters service center, then the manufacturer could also apply credit towards in-home services to treat pests associated with pets.

Features:

3 lb Canister

Children and Pets should not be in treatment area during application

Children and Pets can come in immediately following application

This product is not for pets, strictly for use in your home

Fleabusters Rx Plus has both federal and state EPA registration

3Potential side effects for cats:Dec 14, 2009
By Rainy Days & Mondays "California Dreamin"
I currently have 5 healthy indoor cats. They range from 6-years old to seven months. The two younger cats I had up for adoption for a few weeks along with their littermates at a local cat rescue shelter. During their stay at shelter they must have picked up some fleas. I used a flea comb on a kitten last week and noticed a bit of flea dirt. I treated all the cats with Advantage (Flea control) and washed and sterilized all their bedding along with practically everything else in the house that was washable. As a last step to preventing any major flea outbreak I ordered a 3-lb container of Fleabusters RX from Amazon.com. I followed the manufacturer's directions while applying it to my carpets. I thoroughly raked it deep into the carpet. Because of cold winter weather and dry inside air, my home is currently charged with static electricity. So much so that when I pet my cats their fur snaps and pops with static. Apparently because of the static, the Fleabusters powder was sticking to my cats after they crossed the freshly treated carpet. My shinny black cat was covered with a fine talcum coating of flea power especially near his legs and paws. While I was out for the evening, my statically charged cats must have continued to play with their toys and roll on the carpet picking up additional flea power in their fur. When I got home late that evening the first cat started throwing up. Then, all through the night I was constantly awakened by all five cats retching and vomiting. The frequent vomiting continued throughout the next day and was joined by extreme water like diarrhea. I contacted the Emergency Poison Control Center, paid their $30.00 fee and I was told my cats were experiencing all the symptoms of Orthoboric poisoning (Active ingredient in Fleabusters RX.) I contacted Fleabusters and explained to them how my cats were poisoned by their flea power. Fleabusters assured me that mine was a unique experience and promised they would research this incident. Because cats are fastidious cleaners and lick themselves constantly there is always a chance under the right conditions that Fleabusters RX, or any other flea power or even talcum powder, could harm your cat if it ingests enough of it. My cats are all young and healthy so they should fully recover with no long term side effects. Old, sick and very young cats might be more at risk. If you are concerned about your cat ingesting this power you may want to keep your cat confined to one room while you treat the rest of your carpet. Then, after a few days you can start vacuuming again and most of the loose power will be gone. Once the loose power has been vacuumed you could then allow your cat access to the treated carpet.

4Gentle and effectiveMay 21, 2007
By Kelsey Holmes
I had a serious flea problem. My 10 month old daughter had bites all over her body, I had bites all over my ankles, and my cat's fur was littered with flea eggs. Because my daughter is very sensitive, this was the only product which her specialist approved for treatment of the home.

Application was a lot of work; it wasn't difficult, just time consuming and involved a lot of furniture moving. I can see why fleabusters charges $200 to treat a home. However, as soon as you're done treating an area, it's safe for animals and kids to enter the room, much unlike bug bombs or a call to the exterminator.

As the label indicates, it did take a few weeks to see full results. The appearance of flea bites significantly decreased after application and slowly declined from there. It's been a month since I applied the powder and I haven't seen any bites on my daughter in over a week.

A week after application my daughter and I weren't getting bit very much, but my cat still had a lot of fleas on her so I gave her Advantage flea drops. The drops instantly killed the fleas on her and within a week our flea problem was a distant memory. So my suggestion is to use both products to help speed up the process. (I tried Frontline flea drops before Advantage and they didn't work at all)

Effectiveness: 5 stars

Speed of effectiveness: 3 stars

Gentleness: 5 stars

Overall: 4 stars

5Product definitely worksDec 07, 2007
By J. Ferrall
This fall, our dog brought a good number of fleas into the house, and because we didn't catch it right away, they ended up spreading through the entire house. We were getting bites on our ankles and legs and were literally miserable.

After doing a good deal of research on various treatment options, we decided to try the Fleabusters Rx For Fleas due to the fact that we have young children and liked the idea of not using chemicals that could harm those in the house. We ordered two containers as we have a large house, 3000+ sq. ft. We only used about 1/2 to 2/3 of the first container to treat the house, so a container does go a long way.

We followed the directions on the container as far as moving furniture and using a push broom to work it into the carpet. After the first week, with normal vacuuming, the number of fleas had reduced some. By the end of the second week, we found the occasional flea, but nowhere near the number we were seeing. Now it's been a month, and we have not seen any fleas at all over the past week.

I would highly recommend this product to anyone who has a flea problem, or even if you don't have a problem, as a preventative measure to ensure a problem never starts. While it does take a while to start working, I am truly impressed with the end results. We will definitely continue to use this product in the future to prevent a recurrence of the flea problem we encountered.

1As a mother and Pediatrician ... PLEASE BEWARE of this company,Oct 05, 2011
By PediMom
My husband (a Paramedic) and I (a Pediatrician) have been battling fleas in our new home for a while and with our baby getting bites we decided we needed to try something different then the usual sprays, but at the same time something "safe" since we had a baby. We did a lot of research and found great reviews of the Fleabuster Rx for Fleas powder.

We went to the "Fleabusterca.com" site since we live in California, as well as the main "Fleabuster.com" website.

Spoke to a "Rhonda" at the California branch at length, including their guarantee of, to quote exactly from their own website:

"If you wish to purchase the powder it can be purchased from many local veterinary practices or by contacting our office directly. If you purchase the powder directly from Fleabusters of California and for any reason you choose not to do it yourself or were not satisfied with the results obtained by doing it yourself, Fleabusters of California will deduct the cost of the powder from the cost of your service. If you purchase the powder from an alternate source we will offer you a credit towards your service, but amount of the credit will vary depending on many factors. "

We also checked the guarantee from the main Fleabuster.com site which states (copied and pasted directly from their website):

"The Fleabusters Guarantee is Unequaled in the Industry
* The Fleabusters 'One Year' satisfaction guarantee is truly unconditional. Any customer, for any reason, can request one of the guarantee options.
* The guarantee provides for a full refund if not satisfied -- or product replacement if it should not last for a full year (usually lasts longer) and, the most important option -- credit toward in home services should the customer determine the installation procedure was not for them! (available only in areas with a local Fleabusters service center)"

Given these written guarantees from both the main company (Fleabusters.com) as well as the California center (Fleabustersca.com) and reassurance from Rhonda we purchased 3 containers directly from the main branch on 9/13/2011.

We received the product promptly, but after applying the 1st tub (exactly as instructed) we realized that (1) there was much less than the 3 pounds advertised in each container and (2) There was dusty residue everywhere that would not vacuum up. As a results everyone in the house, including the baby was coughing and covered in dust. Mind you that when I discussed Fleabusters with Rhonda that she stated that this would not happen and in fact according to her the powder was so safe that no one would have to leave the house even during the application.

We were very unsatisfied with this product so we called Rhonda (1-800-765-3532) on 9/30/2011 & 10/3/2011 and requested that we would like a credit towards a professional application, to which she spoke to her supervisor "Pam" and they said no. I quoted their website and they kept telling me that they could not credit me for buying a product from their main provider because the main provider was in Florida and they were located in California, even though on their own website there is no mention of this. In other words they refused to honor their own written guarantee. They told me to call the main branch in Florida which I did.

I spoke to Cathy in Florida (1-800-666-3532) who spoke to her supervisor "Bob" who told me to call Pam back and said Bob said it was ok. I called Pam and she said Bob had no say on what they did in California. I left several messages and was promised by both Rhonda and Cathy that Bob and Pam would discuss this and come up with a fair solution. I also emailed the email address on the websites, but I never heard back from either of them.

So I called back on 10/4 and got hold of Bob who I discovered is really "Robert Yardev" - the president of Fleabusters.com (aka Rx for Fleas). He said he was surprised that the California branch wouldn't take a credit but he couldn't do anything. I then requested a refund to which he said since we used some of it we could not get a refund. When I asked if we didn't use some how would we ever know if it was effective or if their were problems with it to which he said that wasn't his problem and once we used the product they would not refund the money, even thought their own written website explicitly states they would. Per Bob " I would have to do what I had to do."

I was floored by his response and realized I had little recourse given I had just spoken to the president of this company himself and this was the response I had just gotten. So I contacted both the BBB and Consumer Affairs Office in Florida and I found out I could not file a complaint without a physical address. So I went to their website and there is NO address to be found! Only an email, which is to "Bob" directly and a 1-800 number, again to Bob. There was no other way to contact this company. With no address I was told by the BBB and Consumer Affairs Office I could not file a complaint.

At this time I attempted to contact Cathy, Bob, Pam and Rhonda for an address and they refused to give it to me. I then contacted the other California branches but soon realized they were all manned by the same set of people! In other words, I called 3 different service centers in California numbers (San Francisco, Los Angeles and Contra Costa) and Rhonda picked up the phone each time. I realized we were likely scammed by a this company pretending to be something they are not.

I then called the credit card company I paid Fleabusters with and put a stop payment for fraud and was able to obtain an address.

6555 NW 9th Ave # 412
Ft Lauderdale
Florida, 33309

At this time I recontacted the Consumer Affairs Office in Florida and spoke with Craig Brant and discussed this case and gave him their address to file a complaint.

The money is the least of my concerns.

The major concern I have as both a mother and a Pediatrician is: If this company is so misleading and dishonest in terms of their own written guarantee, how sure can I be about the true safety of their product and can I truly trust them regarding what is in it or not in it?!"

Given the numerous positive reviews on how effective it is, I won't doubt it's effectiveness. But at what cost? Did they put something in it more than just boric acid? At this time I recontacted them and asked for either a patent # or manufacturing ID # to confirm their formulation as what they advertise is in it. I was met with resistance and denied that request.

Now I have a house covered with this mysterious white powder coming from a dishonest company causing members of my family to have symptoms with little recourse.

It is NOT worth putting this product in your home, or near your family, when there are doubts about the veracity and authenticity of the company much less the product itself and no recourse for independent authentication of what exactly is in this product.

Work with Fleabusters and Fleabusters California at your own risk, both financially as well as medically.
