Pro's and Con's if used for fishOct 02, 2011
By Cowboy Bebop Pro...the price for three gallon size is great
Pro...It's made in the USA
But...
Con...It's made of very thin plastic and cracks easily so I would not get this to hold fish. I barely bumped the Kritter Keeper and it put a crack at the bottom which means you have to be VERY CAREFUL when you clean this thing out in the sink to not bump it.
So I would not recommend this to hold betta fish or any fish at all since it cracked so easily.

Smaller than ExpectedSep 30, 2011
By rosesarered The dimensions for this keeper are actually smaller than what they say. Instead of being 14.5" it's only 12, which makes a big difference. I had a much smaller keeper before, so the new room makes all the difference. All in all, I wish it was bigger, but I'm happy with what I have.
edit: My mouse has started eating through the cover! Within 20 minutes she almost got through the entire thing. I put some duck tape on the hole and it seems to be holding up well. Just thought I'd warn you!
Only works if using large feedersOct 26, 2011
By Nats Be aware that the ventilation slates on the lid are wide enough for small crickets, roaches, fruit flies, etc feeders to escape with ease. If you feed your pet large prey items, like large crickets, worms, etc. then this will work fine.
Also, the lid on these are hard to pry off once snapped on. I used a stone sander on my Dremmel to work down the snaps in the lid corners and a piece of sanpaper to work down the edges of the container rim. Now it's easy to remove the lid.
You can also hot glue measured and cut pieces of screen to cover the large ventilation slits on the lid, making it escape proof for the smallest feeders, like fruit flies.
But this is a lot of work.
I have 4 kritter keepers which have been modified this way.

By Shayla I use this for one of my betta fish. I love it because it's very inexpensive compared to an actual aquarium of the same size. I've been using it for 3 months now. It holds water very well and I have a sponge filter and an under gravel heater in it.
Ideal for Betta fishDec 02, 2009
By E. Anderson Last month I was looking for a new and larger home for my red VT Betta Anubis. His one gallon tank wasn't cutting it because of the fact that it was too small and the Hydor mini heater I bought for him heated up his tank too quickly. I decided on another Kritter Keeper because my crowntail Betta Osiris. Unfortunately I couldn't remember which size I had bought for Osiris so I decided on a large Kritter Keeper for Anubis.
There are no handles on the top of the lid on the large Kritter Keeper. That is fine. When I do my water changes on Osiris's tank, I pick up the Kritter Keeper by the body, not by the handles. I like the fact that on all Kritter Keepers there is a hole that allows me to put the cord to my mini heaters on each tank. That is quite helpful. Like all Kritter Keepers, it is nice to have a cover for the tank with a lid because Betta fish are notorious jumpers. I also like how the tank does not get easily heated it up by my heaters. With all the room that Anubis has now, I plan on adding a couple more decorations to his tank. He loves his new home as does his mother ;).
