Took care of this lil dog's probs.Sep 04, 2009
By E. Smith I have a small Malteese, and he was having very bad skin problems with odors. I had tried a variety of shampoos, including the medicated type from the vet - none worked and he seemed to be getting worse. This shampoo looks to be the best of all. Cortisone being an ingredient (according to the groomer who told me about this) definitely helps, and he has had no adverse reactions. This shampoo, and a holistic dog food (Nutro Ultra -Small Breed Adult) have brought back a lustrous coat and a happy dog. I would actually give it a 4 1/2 - 3/4 in that it is a bit difficult to lather.

good shampoo but not for my dogApr 03, 2008
By J. Hoopiiaina My dog has severe allergies and has to get steroid treatment to keep it under control. I heard about the Malaseb shampoo and tried it but unfortuntantly it made my dog worse. It did take all of the stinky smell away completely. The vet said his skin is just too sensitive for it, even though with some dogs it is a very good shampoo. He recommended Relief shampoo from the same company. It is milder and contains an anti-imflamatory. I won't give Malaseb a bad review. I know it is a good shampoo, it just wasn't right for my dog. I'll never try anything else without consulting my vet first because my dog's allergies are so severe. These shampoos are good, but only your vet can tell you which one is right for your dog.

Difficult product to findJul 22, 2011
By J Rogers In June of 2006 my wife and I rescued a little 9 year-old West Highland White Terrier (Westie) who had a severe case of Malassezia Dermatitis. Part of the treatment was bathing her with Malaseb shampoo several times a week along with a regiment of medication. This shampoo works well in eliminating the build-up of yeast and the odor that is associated with it. About a year ago it became very difficult to find Malaseb and we heard from our vet that the one company that manufactured it had been closed. We were not impressed with the other shampoos that were suggested as a replacement for the Malaseb. We were delighted to find it on Amazon, which now allows us to continue her now weekly baths. Now 14 years-old this little Westie is thriving and enjoys playing with our two other rescued Westies.

Works Well...Mar 28, 2008
By k. The shampoo was prescribed by our vet. My dogs have fungal issues that was misdiagnosed and untreated for several years. I've used everything, and so far, this works the best. It doesn't heal the fungal issues but it does contain it. I follow-up with the sulfurated lime dip, which works really well.
