5Flea and Tick FreeJul 08, 2008
By K. Hill
My dog is a Chow mix and very furry. Ticks are impossible to find under her two layered coat until it's too late. At first, I tried cheaper brands. They work on ticks but do nothing for fleas. Then my vet recommended Frontline. I later tried K9 Advantix since they claim to also kill mosquitos, but I didn't notice any difference with the little bloodsuckers. And the protection from K9 Advantix didn't seem to last as long so I switched back to Frontline.

Frontline works great for us. My dog is an outdoor dog and our county reportedly has more deer than people. And with deer come deer ticks. I've seen deer in my back yard and my dog's house is very near the woods for shade. And she likes to take the occasional jaunt through the woods. Still I rarely find a tick on her. And when I do, they're usually dead (or soon will be).

I wish I'd known Amazon was selling Frontline for a better price sooner. I've been purchasing only 3 months worth for about $50 from another site for the last 2 years. Very frustrating since before you know it, you're out. With 6 months worth I only have to remember 2 times a year instead of 4.

5The Best There Is!Jun 13, 2005
By G. Reid
Frontline Plus is the best way to keep fleas and ticks off your dog. It is applied once per month in about 3 minutes. It seems to have little or no side effects on the dog. It has been used for many years on dogs without problems. I checked all products and asked various vets and everyone agrees that Frontline Plus is the best way to keep ticks and fleas off your dog. The Plus even kills the flea eggs.

1Be Aware Of The FakeOct 18, 2011
By Mauricio Balter
I bought Frontline Plus here and NOTHING happened to the fleas. Checking on the Internet I read about COUNTERFEIT Frontline and when I bought Frontline from Petco I could see the difference. Fake ones are in metric, ml, not oz and the packing differs from the original, etc. There's a PDF online from EPA explaining the differences. Just be aware.

1Once a great product, but is losing its effectivenessJun 09, 2009
By R. Moser
I have used Frontline every year since it first came onto the market to control ticks and fleas - I was always very happy with the product and it worked well.

Something, however, HAS CHANGED WITH THIS PRODUCT - last year it was less effective and I chalked it all up to a different house, a different neighborhood, and the addition of yet another rescued dog. This year, however, I realize that it is not me, not how I am using it, and not the new environment - it simply doesn't work like it used to. My poor 16 year old cat could not get rid of his fleas and I had to switch to Advantix, which worked well for both my cat and my dogs.

I called Frontline's customer service number, and they were rude and inevitably insisted that it was wrong doing or incorrect usage on my part, which is funny given that I have used this for many years on dozens of animals with -surprise - no problem until this year. I highly recommend going a different route, even if you are a faithful Frontline customer; something is different about the product only just recently that has caused it to be less effective and it will not get rid of your problem.

1Dangerous for pets, and possibly humansMar 29, 2010
By G - Men Fan
I've used Frontline and Frontline Plus on several dogs for years, always following the recommended doses. I've never had a problem with fleas or ticks, so I'm guessing that this product works well, but I never suspected that I may be harming my dogs with these pesticides. Recently, my 8 year old Australian Cattle Dog suffered a severe reaction several hours after applying a treatment of Frontline Plus; he went into a sort of seizure and lost control of his legs and stability and bounced off a wall for a minute or so until it passed. I just knew immediately it was a neurological effect from the Frontline Plus, even though none of my dogs had ever had any problems with this product before. I did a lot of research online and was saddened to learn that these types of topical pesticides have been causing problems in dogs and cats - and possibly humans! - for years and that the EPA is investigating the safety of these products. Fortunately my dog appears to be fine now, but obviously I will never use these products again, and I'm saddened to know that I may have unknowingly caused my dog harm. I don't expect to see this review published, but I hope that it is so that others may make more informed choices before applying these chemicals to their beloved pets. I have found that there is a holistic approach to controlling fleas and ticks with natural products that will not harm your pet.
