 Nice unit, should have more depth thoughAug 08, 2008

This is a good product with fairly good quality. I put it together in about 30 minutes; the instructions are fairly straight forward. Be aware that it is closer to a black color than brown (the photo looks more brown than black, but that is not the case when you actually see it).
My only complaint is the fact that if it were only about two inches deeper, it would be able to contain most of the plastic cat litter boxes on the market; you could simply insert them and close the door. For example, I would love to be able to put the Tidy Cat Breeze Cat Litter Box System inside, then I could still use this practical system but it would be hidden from view. However, it won't fit in this cabinet, albeit barely: it is about two inches short; the door won't close with it inside. Same holds true for the litter box we were using prior to ordering this cabinet; I was hoping it would also fit inside, but it is also too deep for the cabinet door to close.
We ended up getting a fairly small plastic tub to go inside, with low sides and not a lot of room, thus the litter goes all over the floor of the cabinet and needs to be constantly cleaned. If it weren't for this shortcoming, for the sake of about two inches in depth of the design, it would warrant a five star rating.

I purchased two of these items. As other reviewers have commented, this cat washroom is almost solid black (which is what I was hoping it would be ;-). It was fairly easy to assemble, though I am missing a critical part on one of the doors and have no idea where to get it. It is an attractive product and an excellent idea. However, it is hard to believe that this was designed by someone who has had real life experience changing litter boxes! The door is cut too low, which results in being able to see the litter box inside (this kind of ruins the whole concept of hiding the litter box). This also makes it easy for the cat to kick litter (or urinate, if they are so inclined) out of the door onto the floor. A big problem, in my opinion, is that the bottom of the cabinet is the same material as the outside, which looks to be a wood veneer of some type. Because litter can get kicked out as well as urine and 'other stuff', this can get under and around the litter pan. There is no easy way to disinfect or sanitize wood. The bottom should be covered with an easy clean surface. I hope Merry considers all of these comments and redesigns this unit. With a few very minor tweaks, it could be purr-fect!

This product looks pretty good. Was not that hard to put together. The hole in the door is cut too low. You have to have an extremely shallow kitty litter box so it doesn't show. I have to medium to large size cats and they fit in it just fine.

I'd been looking at this for months in the airline shopping catalog whenever I flew for business... and was tempted every time to purchase but the only color they showed in the catalog was white. Then I found out that they made this in "Espresso" color and I couldn't resist! This is the best investment EVER. It looks spectacular and everyone who sees it cannot believe that it is a litter box! I would advise that when you get the plastic pan to put inside that you look for one that has a low front lip, as the opening is cut low to the bottom. Very well made and stylish, A MUST HAVE for anyone with limited space and a love of cats but not their visible litter box!!

First, I don't care what anyone says this unit is nearly black. In fact it almost looks like they could have poured the slightest about of brown paint into the black. If you turn it to the side and tilt and hold it in the light you can see the slightest hint of expresso brown, otherwise it completely appears black. I'm not happy about that, but it is what it is.
I had to inquire about the unit through Brookstone before it was shipped. Took almost 3 weeks to arrive.
There is virtually no litterbox that fits perfectly inside of this thing. No standard ones will without large gaps on the side. This is the biggest flaw in my opinion. Why wouldn't they have use a popular sized standard or large litter box and built the unit to accommodate it?
Another reviewer added that she had purchased a Cats Rule litter box and it fit the best. I went out searching for one and I have to agree, this litter box is the best fit. It's not perfect, there is a little room on each side, but the litterbox atleast has a high back and the lower side lines up just perfectly with the cutout for the door. It was hard to find, I almost ordered on online, but ended up finding one at a big box pet store. Note: I almost missed it, it was not set out on display with the other litter boxes, it was up on the top shelve and an associate needed to use a ladder to get it down.
