SUSPICIOUS OF INGREDIENTS, BUT THEY HAVE THE SECRETAug 09, 2011

We try to get organic or natural treats for the dogs. Milk-Bone treats are probably neither. But these treats win out for dog approval pretty consistently. By mistake, we once bought a slightly different version done by Milk-Bone, without the marrow. Dogs voted against it.
So, this version must have passed a log of canine "focus groups." My dogs are big fans.

I was horrified when I discovered that I had ordered the 15 oz boxes of Milk Bone dog treats again. I had promised myself I would only get the smaller boxes, because last year when I ordered these 15 oz boxes from this same seller and stored them in a plastic container for less than a month I discovered that they were populated with ugly little meal worms and webbing! It was so awful I ended up throwing out the entire container. After some discussion where the seller did not want to credit my account, Amazon took the bull by the horns and got my credit back. This time, I have carefully inspected the boxes and this batch of 15 oz seem to be OK. So we will use them, but next time I will make sure I purchase the smaller (10 oz) boxes of Milk Bone treats or even the large 40 oz plastic tubs which have always been fine, because the prior experience with 15 oz was awful. My advice - Just check them out carefully!

Our little Yorkie (adopted) came to us mostly untrained and unsure of what he liked. However, he was very sure of what he didn't like! He didn't like any of the treats the store-sponsored training instructor told us every dog loves (6 or 7 of them). He refused them completely and without hesitation! I finally found cat treats he liked for the training, but was told they weren't good for him long term.
Family members scoured stores, and the rejected treats stacked up along with our frustration. At last the Milk-Bone Crunchy Original Marrow-Filled Dog Treats were a huge hit! They are a perfect size and he goes in circles telling us he's a good dog and should have a treat as often as he can come up with a good excuse (he only gets one or two a day), and the Milk-Bone Dog Biscuits are great for when he's in the mood to work a little harder on something. Hooray Milk-Bone!
