5Sturdy, and a good priceJul 29, 2008

My cats both love this scratching post. The base of it makes it nice and sturdy for the one who likes to pull really hard. My last post bit the dust after a few years when the base came off; this one looks like it'll last much longer. The bit of carpet at the top makes it look neater.

My cats don't seem to mind leaning over to use it, but I would like to get them the tall one someday!

5Cats Love It, I Love ItJun 05, 2008

We have three scratching posts at home; the Molly and Friends post, the Ultimate Scratch Post, and a wall-mountable version of the Ultimate Scratch Post. Although the Molly and Friends post is shorter than the Ultimate Scratch post, the cats definitely prefer using it. It's a very well-made post and the carpeting is securely affixed to the post, unlike some of the big box pet store brands. Based on the fact that the kitties climbed on this immediately after it was pulled from the box, I would highly recommend this post.

5He sharpens his claws on itJun 28, 2011

My 18-pound domestic long hair doesn't claw on furniture - except in the middle of the night, when I was sound asleep and he is wide-awake and lonely. He claws on my bed frame and/or the dresser to wake me. During the day, when I am up and about and he is not sleeping, he claws only on the scratching posts to sharpen his little switch-blades. He has seven posts scattered around the house. This Molly and Friends Small Handmade Sisal Cat Scratching Post is one of them. It measures 17 inches tall, excluding the base. The roped section is 15 inches long. The cap and the base are both 2 inches thick and covered with shag carpet. One thing that warrants special mention is the base. It is the thickest base I have ever seen under a scratching post. It adds greatly to the heft of the post, which withstands rigorous scratching without toppling. The disadvantage of this 2-inch thick base is that my cat can't lay his paws and chest on it comfortably after a rigorous workout, like he does with his other posts. The whole assembly is well made and sturdy. I am pleased with it.

My cats will scratch anything. I have had numerous scratching posts over the years, but this one is too small and flimsy, and they don't even bother with it.

Waste of money.
