When the well-being and comfort of your animals are top priorities, Sani-Chips are the proven bedding of choice.

A traditional Hardwood chip, made entirely from the Aspen species. This product is screened to a uniform size and is dried to 8% (+/-2%) moisture content. The Aspen Sani-Chip is brighter in color than typical Hardwood chips made from other wood species. Hardwood bedding materials are much safer and healthier for your pet than softwood bedding materials (such as pine or cedar), because Hardwoods do not contain any resins or aromatic hydrocarbons. Native Earth Aspen Sani Chips are free of all splinters, shavings, slivers, excess dust and foreign matter.

5Great rodent beddingJul 21, 2008
By J. Domaracki "jenando"
I purchased this bedding for my five gerbils. Aspen litter is best for them as soft woods contain harmful oils. Other brands of aspen bedding essentially are large splinters that are difficult to handle bare-handed. The Native Earth Aspen Sani-Chips were well worth the cost. The litter looks like tiny squares of aspen and are very soft to handle. The litter is loose in the bag and therefore there are no large chunks of compressed bedding to pull out. It does not contain the occasional bit of bark and my gerbils have had a great time burrowing in it. I will certainly buy this product again.

5Amazing Item!Mar 08, 2009

I'm using this for all 6 of our king snakes, our 2 milk snakes, our 3 corn snakes, our 2 sand boas, and our western hognose, and it's fantastic stuff! Once you start getting into the multiples of pets, those quart bags if aspen bedding for $15 start looking a little scary. This stuff works wonderfully, and it sure beats the look of just plain paper! Our snakes love it too. Only problem I've noticed is overflow from the water dishes causing mold, but nothing new compared to the aspen bedding. Highly recommend it!

5Perfect Ball Python and Boa BeddingMay 15, 2012
By Chris Mason
I have used various types of substrate from paper towels to aspen to bark. I find this product to be the easiest to deal with. Because it is so fine, I do not worry at all about impaction should they swallow some during feeding. It also acts like cat litter when they defecate/urinate making spot cleaning really easy. Unless your snakes go crazy making a mess then you can go a month or 2 between changing the full cage substrate out. It's also way cheaper that the typical shredded aspen you find in pet stores. If you just have one snake then one back could last you all year.

5Awesome for snakes!Mar 29, 2012

I use this as bedding for my 3 snakes (2 boa constrictors and a ball python) and have used it for about 8 months now. I love it because it's resin-free, odor-free, dust-free, AND chemical-free. It's also very soft. There is NO risk of impaction with this substrate because it is very thin. It's A-OK if your snakes consume it during feeding time.

This is ten times better than shredded aspen. There are no jagged pieces and it isn't dusty like pet store bedding. It's cheaper, as well! And since the bags are packed so tightly, it lasts a long time. I have had no issues with mold.

Make sure you order at least 2 bags so that the shipping evens out with the product value. Be sure to check other suppliers (PetFoodDirect and National Pet Pharmacy) to make sure the prices are the same.

5sani chipsMay 29, 2011

This is a good product. NO dust like shredded aspen. We did have to purchase 5 bags to spread shipping costs out which made them cheaper then at the local reptile shows. Then add in the fact we live on the 3rd floor. The ups delivery person brings them to the door. She is a good delivery person.
