2Too strong of smell.Mar 26, 2010
By S. Sandow
The smell of these wipes made me gag as soon as I opened them, but I used them anyway hoping that the smell wouldn't linger. It did. I ended up throwing them away after one use. This product did do its job and cleaned the cage just fine, but the awful scent lingered and made my rats sneeze like crazy. 24 hours after using the product, the cage still reeked of the wipes and I ended up having to re-wash it with Dawn to get the stink off. If you have pets that have sensitive respiratory systems (like rats) I would NOT recommend this product. (Just because something is made from "natural" ingredients doesn't necessarily mean it's good for your pet.) I would recommend AOE All Purpose Deodorizing Pet Wipes instead. They are safe enough to not only clean your cage, but your pet too. (Though they are on the pricier side.)

4Does the work, but hard to pull out of bottleDec 02, 2007

only con is its hard to make the tissues come out of the tube like they are suppose to. i keep having to open the bottle. however, the pros is that each tissue will do alot of work and you can see it cleaning (cuz it foams a little bit). very convenient for quick cleans ups as well as a good aid during thorough cage cleanings.

2Nice Idea, Horribel ExecutionAug 12, 2011
By Adult questioneer "lover of shoes"
I bought these in hopes of cleaning my rat cage at a faster rate and with ease, but they are hard to open, hard to pull out (I had to rip them, the perforation doesn't seem to be of any help), and they leave behind a strong odor. The first time I used these I had a crazy asthma attack. I was coughing and wheezing for DAYS, so just imagine what my 4 male rats went through since their respiratory systems are much more sensitive than mine. And my sister hated the odor too. After just 5 minutes in my room after cleaning the cage, she couldn't take the smell anymore. This was HOURS after I cleaned the platforms in my rat cage. Conclusion: they clean the cage, but I would not recommend these for allergy sufferers/asthmatics or animals with sensitive respiratory systems.

4For small jobs, not entire cagesJan 20, 2012

Like other reviewers, I have a problem with the smell of these wipes. I can't use them for entire cage cleanings. The smell gets extremely strong, especially in glass tanks. Even if they have screen lids. I use a regular bottle of cleaner and paper towels to clean full cages. But these came in very handy for cleaning litter trays and wheels. Since silent spinners don't drain waste all that well, these came in handy to wipe those out on a daily basis. I can use the same wipe to clean the bottom of litter trays as well (my dwarf hamsters are "potty" trained). It's also nice to use if your rodent does it's business in the free-roaming plastic balls. If I cleaned out entire cages with them, they'd be too expensive to use over a bottle of cleaner. But super convenient for daily cleanings!

4Basically rids smell; but leaves a new one. Cleans great!Sep 21, 2011

I give 4 stars not 5 because im not sure how much these 'get rid of' the smell. (as opposed to covering the smell?) They do have a fairly strong smell, but I open a window for venting while I clean, anyway. It is very handy to have a wet wipe on hand, as often times the feces and urin get caked onto the bottom of the cage as my piggies weigh the bedding down. I use the wipes to get rid of the smell, as well as clean the cage. I then take a dry wash cloth and dry what is left from the wipes. The wipes just leave the surface kinda squeaky damp, not too wet. Once I dry it off, I let it sit for a few mintues to air out then put the bedding in. I also have bad breathing issues, but as long as I just dont rush into sticking my face right by the wipes, and take time to let it air out, I'm good. Plus, you should remember that there is a barrier of bedding between your animal and where you used the wipes, so it usnt direct contact. I am in school to become a vet tech so I watch for any breathing issues or irritation from my pigs (any guinea pig owner knows pigs are prone to breathing and respratory issues) but they never seem bothered. Just allow venting, and let these little wipes work their magic! As far as I can tell, they do a fairly good job at getting rid of the smell left on the cages, as well as anything else I wipe down after cage cleaning! It does get rid of the feeces and urine smell, but it does leave a different smell (the one everyone sais smells terrible. I think it isn't really a horrible smell, it is just strong.)(Just be sure that the first few times you use the wipes to not wipe the entire cage down just yet (wipe only part of it or just a section of it), and to watch closely just in case your animal does by chance get irritated from the smell / residue. If so, discontinue use and thoroughly wash cage. If irritation continues, see your vet.)

Overal I recomend giving these wipes a try. I get them from my local pet supply store, not amazon, by the way. If you can't stand the smell, try doing what I do. If you still can't stand it, just throw them out.
