4Not bad for the priceJan 02, 2010
By Edwin Rabbipal
I want to first start this off by saying I have only used this once, the first time was a few days ago. I bought it off ebay, then read the reviews on Amazon and thought to myself that I had just bought another expensive book end .. but I was wrong. I am not sure if it's the same clipper as the one above but the package was labeled "Oster Advanced Pet Clippers" and mine is blue as well. It was fairly straight forward, plug it in and start shearing .. but the stupid #2 attachment kept jamming. I tried the next one down and the same thing happened. Frustrated, I just took it off and started shearing without any attachments. My dog is a large German Shepherd/chow mix. He has more sheep wool than hair, lol. Petsmart charged $70 for what they claimed was 5 hours of non stop shaving to remove his hair. To say I was intimidated would be putting it mildly. But, two hours after starting, I was done. I had saved $35 and he looked almost as good as when I got him back from the groomers at Petsmart. Ok - not almost - but passable .. and the shears had paid for itself and worked great. I would have given it 5 stars but for the lousy attachments, I am removing one. I don't care what dog you have, if it can cut mine, it can cut any dogs hair. You have to start slowly, be patient, and don't treat your dogs hair like human hair. Think more like you are shearing wool. Go low done and start shearing from where it touches the skin, and the hair will come off almost like peeling a banana. I think it's a great product. I may amend that after a few more uses but I am happy so far.

I purchased these clipper several months ago and have been very disappointed in them. I have a Maine Coon and these barely made a dent in his fur and pulled the hair. I would NOT recommend these.

I purchased mine through Wal Mart, thinking I would save money.
I have a small Jack Russell/Maltese mix, so she has long-ish hair.
I started with the large attachment first to test the hair lenth I would get.
Her hair just laid over and none got cut. I chose the next smallest attachment. The hair got jammed in the attachment and the attachment popped off. Not to mention it started pulling her hair and by now, she is not wanting to hold still for any of this.
This happened several times. I finally took the attachment off and started holding pieces of hair up and pulling it into the blades.
After a half hour, and now a dog that looks worse than when I started, I also began to notice that my fingers were burning because the clippers were getting really hot.
Stupidly, I did not save my receipt so I'm stuck with them. I wouldn't dare sell these on ebay! In my opinion, these clippers are junk.
You get what you pay for. So if you're going the DIY route, just save your money and buy the $100+ clippers.

This product jammed frequently. Not good for medium length dog hair. I had to return it. I wish I would have read more reviews about dog clippers.
