 New Pump too powerful for productJul 26, 2010
We bought this new Petmate Fresh Flow to replace an existing unit that had served us well for several years but which was becoming difficult to clean. Unfortunately the pump on the new product for some reason no longer has adjustable flow although the flow control lever is still there but intentionally frozen in the maximum position. This results in a very noisy product with water overflowing the internal filter reservoir continually. We installed the pump for our old unit and all is well but this new product appears to have a significant flaw.

After trying two other fountains that both leaked like crazy, I was very skeptical to try another. This product did not disappoint. I have a Bengal cat that will only drink moving water and I was tired of her drinking out of the faucet. She loves this fountain and drinks so much more water now. Best money spent for quite sometime. Highly recommend the Petmate Fresh Flow.

I would just like to say that i have a 20 year old siamese cat and he was bleeding alot from his UTI. I was getting worried because of his age and did not want ot put him through any surgery. I saw this in the pet store and they wanted 52.00 for this and that was a little too much. I did purchase it on Amazon and i not only purchased one but all my friends wanted one too. I think i have bought 5 all together. my cat stated to drink more water than he ever has and no mor uti. I am very pleased with this product thank you Pet Mate. I would reccomend this to any one.

I have owned a few fountains for my cat and this is the best one that I've tried. It does have some flaws as noted by the other reviewers - sometimes gets loud and cleaning can be kind of a pain (but not nearly as bad as some others I've had). I can imagine that cleaning it would be more of a problem with dogs who tend to get food in their water, but I just take it apart every couple of weeks when I swap out the water and wipe everything down with a sponge and that seems to do the trick. As for the pump noises, it does get noisy when the water level gets low, but as long as you keep it fairly full, it seems to be fine. Again, this would probably be more of a problem with dogs that drink more water. My cat was originally a little hesitant to drink out of it, but now she will only drink this fountain, although I keep other bowls of water around the house. For the price, I am very satisfied.

I've had this fountain for almost two years and have nothing but great things to say. Simple maintenance will keep it running strong and your kitty well hydrated. The motor gets clogged with food and hair but just disassemble the fountain by wedging a butter knife in between the base and top and just pop it off. Clean the motor off with a wet paper towel and snap the fountain back together. Simple! For a more through cleaning, pull the fountain apart, take out the electrical components and stick everything in the top shelf of the dish washer (heated dry off). The reservoir is small but pouring some clean water in the base works also helps keep water levels high. Keeping the water at the correct level in the fountain keeps it virtually silent so you don't even know it's there. My cat enjoys drinking the fresh running water out of the fountain more than jumping up on the counters and drinking out of the kitchen sink - no training required! Well worth the money and the occasional purchase of filters!
