 Keeps Food From Going Everywhere!May 14, 2009

I have two cats, and as most households with multiple cats or dogs know, pet food dispensers and bowl areas can become quite messy. I had already bought the Petmate Le Bistro (Small) water and food dispenser. My two cats are very messy eaters so it was always fustrating for me to constantly pick up kibble crumbs before it goes everywhere. Along with that my little cats loved to move the water bowl serveral times a day and water would be everywhere. I was down to my wits end and decided to go out and buy a food mat. The ones that were in the store didn't look like it would keep the mats in place so I went online and found these.
I LOVE these mats! First off, the mats are made of a non-slip rubber so it will stay in place. The ribbing inside the mat ensures that any kibble falling on the mat will not go anywhere else. The ribbing also helps keep the food & water dispensers in place. Thus ensuring that the water bowl will not tip over or move around much. Even if water does slosh around and ends up on the mat, the mat does a very good job of keeping the water inside the mat ribbing. Clean up is a breeze. Since I have bought these mats, I have not had to constantly clean my cats' food area. Definitely a great buy!

This mat has been very good for protecting my carpet under my cat food bowls from spilled food and water. The size on the small is 18-1/8" x 11-7/8". The gray color is a little bland, but it does the job so that's really all that matters.

I bought this for my 110lbs dog thinking that in the picture was a full grown greyhound or greyhound mix. To my surprise, the "large" mat is actually just large enough for an italian greyhound's dish. When I opened the package I thought that the mat was actually part of the packing material at first...but I was unfortunately wrong. I just wish it had measurements in the description.

These mats work pretty well at controlling the dry food chaos that the cats constantly create. You will need to clean it up frequently, but it really does help!

I bought the large but wish it were still larger as my cat is a real pig about eating her food and I have a very large Petmate water bowl/food dish set that takes up a lot of the mat space. If your dishes are smaller then this is probably just the right size. She likes to take a bite, pull back and eat it out of the dish. So annoying, and messy on the floor. This mat works well to protect the floor from her crumbs and falling food. It also has ribbed surface on one side so if water spills from the bowl it won't leak out of the top of the mat. The reverse side is smooth if that is your preference. All in all an excellent pet food mat.
