Really worksDec 13, 2009
By Barbara J. Brown I have 3 dogs and we had a major problem with ticks. I tried every product on the market when my vet told me about Preventic. They haven't had any ticks at all since I started using Preventic 2 years ago.

Works great if you follow the instructions. Duh.Apr 13, 2010

We have a husky/malemute and live on 16.5 acres of wooded land. The ticks are EVERYWHERE, and we especially worry about deer ticks. With our dog's thick fur, we had a hard time finding the ticks on her until they were terribly swollen and she was miserable. At first, when I put the collar on her, it seemed to be doing NO good. I found another half dozen within the first 24 hours and 5 more the following day. After re-reading the instructions, I realized I had not tightened it enough and spread her thick fur apart to get it down to her skin. After doing that, I found 2 more ticks and haven't seen any since (except those on the outside of the fur, trying to get down to the skin). She seems so much happier now, too, not to have those awful parasites on her.

Excellent!Jan 12, 2008
By JLR Terrific collar. Really deters ticks and fleas. I think its better than Frontline and way less expensive. Please note that it only lasts 90 days so it best to replace on your dog every 90 days like clockwork!

Very effectiveApr 21, 2011
By yosh This collar is the ONLY product that has been effective on ticks for us. We had a bad tick infestation and used multiple brands of topical treatments (Frontline, Advantix, etc.) and sprays on our dog, none of which did a thing. Our vet told us that oral pills such as Comfortis are very good at treating fleas, not ticks, and recommended Preventic. The number of ticks found on our dog was greatly reduced and the ticks that we did find were not nearly as "burrowed in" and easy to remove. Used in combination with house and yard treatments, it has been very effective in controlling ticks.
