The only, and I mean only product that actually works!Dec 12, 2008
By Richard Madigan I live in Westchester county NY (where the incidence of Lyme disease is extraordinarily high). The woods near me are absolutely loaded with ticks, especially in the fall and spring. Even when using the once a month topical liquid type remedies (and I've tried all brands) it was not unusual to find 3 or four a day attached to my dog after walking him - his usual "walks" consist of off leash running around in heavily wooded areas for over an hour twice a day. Within 2 days of putting the Preventic collar on him, the incidence of attached ticks drops to zero (and remains that way). The packaging recommends removing the collar before bathing, but heavy rain (and almost daily splashing /swimming in streams & ponds) do not seem to reduce the effectiveness. Although they can't bite/attach, one should still watch for the occasional loose tick that may get brought into the house. This review applies to the collar for over 60lb dogs (mine is a 120lb Beauceron with a very dense coarse coat).

tick collarNov 12, 2011
By countrygirl I purchased this collar for my dogs. I live in a heavily wooded area where ticks are a huge problem. Within 2 days after placing these collars on my dogs the ticks were no longer attached to the dogs. This collar really does work wonders.

Great productMar 05, 2011
By D. Mullinax These collars do work and they keep ticks off of my dog. You just need to make sure the collar is snug against the dogs neck. And cut off any excess collar so it is not hanging around their neck. Great product.

very good tick preventativeMay 09, 2010
By Tom I've been using the preventic collars for several years now. In the past I have used the spot on products with some success, but many times I would still find ticks attached. With many of those spot on products the tick actually has to bite for it to die. With the preventic collars I have seen very few if any ticks actually attached to the dog and they last up to 3 months. If you live in an area that has heavy tick infestation the preventic collars can be used in conjunction with Frontline products. Because the preventic collars do not protect against fleas, using the combo together may be the best one-two punch if you have flea and tick issues.
