I have been using the program for several years on my cats. I don't feel comfortable spreading some toxic insecticide on their fur so this is a better choice for me. Instead of killing fleas it sterilizes them so they cannot reproduce. It is taken with food and works as birth control for fleas, so it takes 3 months for all the fleas to be sterilized and stop reproducing. I have no fleas on my cats, nor in my house after using this for many years. Because I have been involved with feral cats in my neighborhood, this is often the only way to administer flea control as they are too wild to be touched and will not approach. So I mix it in with their food. That way their fleas will not get passed to my indoor cats either.

My cat is allergic to Frontline and Advantage, which are topical pesticides that get ingested when the cat grooms itself. He would get a lump on his neck wherever I would apply it, so I stopped using topical insecticide for flea control.
I really like Program. It controls fleas for a month, and I never have a problem with my cat getting sick. I put the medication into a little bowl with tuna juice from a can, mix it up, and he drinks it right away.
Even if your cat has a flea infestation, just give them a flea bath and use Program. You can also use Capstar which works faster than anything else, and kills all the fleas on your cat in 5 minutes, but is not long-lasting, although Capstar doesn't work for more than 30 minutes, it kills all the biting fleas and it is actually safe for kittens. I used to work at a veterinary hospital and they gave Capstar and Program to animals that were infested with fleas, but sick, since they are safer alternatives to Advantage and Frontline (read the insert for Advantage, it actually says that it's not safe for sick animals).
The people that give this product a bad review need to realize that if you cat is infested, you need to do something about the active fleas and the eggs. Program is an ovacide that prevents fleas from reproducing so it won't stop an infestation, but it's so much safer for your cat. I'll never use anything else.

We used to be plagued by fleas in the spring, summer and fall. I honestly haven't seen a flea in over a decade after using Program. Thank you for this product and my cats thank you!

This product worked very well, combined with using a flea comb for adult fleas and frequent vacuuming to make sure the fleas weren't in the carpet. I mixed it with wet food and my cats devoured it, and they're now flea-free for a month! Very easy, effective product.

We used Program in conjunction with Capstar to kill off a flea infestation last summer. This is a one-two punch that really works. We have 2 cats. Our male cat goes outside and likes to crawl through the weeds and bushes. Every once in a while, he'll pick up a flea or two. The Capstar is an instant fix for the fleas currently on the cats. The Program ensures that the eggs won't hatch if the fleas lay any after biting the cat. We made the mistake of running out of Program at the end of last summer and forgot about ordering more this spring. That was a big mistake. As of last Friday, the fleas are back. But that's OK. Thanks to Amazon, there will be more Capstar and Program here today. Each cat will get a dose of both medicines today. Over the next 2 weeks, they'll get a Capstar every 4-5 days to kill off any live fleas that will jump onto them. There won't be any new fleas because the eggs won't hatch. In about 2-3 weeks, they'll all be gone. We are NOT going to run out of Program ever again. I highly recommend this combination.
