No a bad temporary homeDec 30, 2009

They are only partially right in their description, stating that no glue, which could harm those critters, is required in assembly. Granted it's not needed in the assembly, but a glue was definitely used in fasting together those layers of wood veneer this house is made of. Hopefully, a non-toxic carpenter's glue.
I've purchased it for my two degus. It was OK for about a month, maybe a bit longer, but then the tenants ate up so much of their house, that it finally no longer could hold together. Also, the house has no floor, only walls and roof (obviously, a profit-booster for the manufacturer but less chewing material for the tenants :).

The pieces of this hut do not stay together. I would not purchase it again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Works fine for usJun 02, 2011
By BookMD I'm sorry this house isn't working out for the other chinchilla owners. We have just one chinchilla and he is not a giant, so maybe that is the difference. I love it that the house has no nails or glue, and it holds together just fine. Our chinchilla got in it right away and started housecleaning.
Previously I bought a guinea pig castle, which he hated and would not use. You wouldn't think these little creatures would be so opinionated.
Not adequateJan 31, 2011
By DiggingEllen Bought these for my two adult chins. The male is tiny, but he was somewhat cramped in it and only used this until I added a fleece house - now he only uses this for a platform. It's also not heavy or stable enough for them to use as a platform - on shavings it will tip slightly and startle them when they jump on it. Additionally, they jump on it with enough force that the top comes off daily, so eventually I had to nail it down so they wouldn't fall on it awkwardly.
The female is much longer than the male, and she looked really uncomfortable in this whenever she had to turn around in it. She too abandoned it, and I didn't even give her an alternate nest box.
I know the price is attractive, but now I have two houses that I'm going to pull out and replace with more substantial, large boxes. I definitely don't recommend this house type at all.
Chin-hut is just ok...Jul 05, 2010
By Amanda N. Moss The hut is cut and compact, but it didn't stay together very well. The pieces slide together instead of being nailed or glued. Unfortunately, my chinchilla kept pulling the pieces apart so I had to buy him something else more stable.
