4No a bad temporary homeDec 30, 2009

They are only partially right in their description, stating that no glue, which could harm those critters, is required in assembly. Granted it's not needed in the assembly, but a glue was definitely used in fasting together those layers of wood veneer this house is made of. Hopefully, a non-toxic carpenter's glue.

I've purchased it for my two degus. It was OK for about a month, maybe a bit longer, but then the tenants ate up so much of their house, that it finally no longer could hold together. Also, the house has no floor, only walls and roof (obviously, a profit-booster for the manufacturer but less chewing material for the tenants :).

1dont buy it.May 08, 2012

The chinchilla hut is tiny. Way too small even for small chinchillas. The size is perfect for rats. There is no bottom piece and the only thing useful for chinchillas is that they can chew on it. My chinchilla is big and poofy and he wont even go in it even though he wants to because he might get stuck. the house doesnt seem like a long lasting product just basic pine wood. Do not buy this house because you will regret it. It is way too small for chinchillas and they might get cramped or break their backs. Order a customized or bigger size house with the same type of wood not this. Not for chinchillas. He cant even go in it.

1Pieces don't stay togetherFeb 13, 2012
By Above Rubies Mom "Trish"
I bought three of these and all of them fell apart within a week. The wood split on some as well. I bought 4 Lixit Guinea Pig Igloo Small Pet Home and have 4 Lixit Critter Space Pod and these work great instead. If you are looking for something natural and not plastic maybe you can figure out a way to keep these together. The wood is the only positive thing I can think of about them, although I believe they are made of pine which seems weird because we are not supposed to use pine or cedar bedding for our rats so why pine homes? I know a rat breeder who loves these and that's why I got them, but I was not happy with them at all.

The pieces of this hut do not stay together. I would not purchase it again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

5Works fine for usJun 02, 2011

I'm sorry this house isn't working out for the other chinchilla owners. We have just one chinchilla and he is not a giant, so maybe that is the difference. I love it that the house has no nails or glue, and it holds together just fine. Our chinchilla got in it right away and started housecleaning.

Previously I bought a guinea pig castle, which he hated and would not use. You wouldn't think these little creatures would be so opinionated.
