Easy To Clean, Ok Quality, Good, Simple CageFeb 15, 2010

I own 2 plastic cages, and one of these which I refer to as a "wire" cage. (The plastic ones are the ones with the tunnels and accessories) I have to say I love this cage b/c it is soooo easy to clean compared to the plastic cages I have. I LOVE that the food is up off the ground on a separate "tier" because it doesn't get wasted that way. They always drag their food out and instead of it being lost in bedding, they drag it out onto the platform. Our hamsters (Winter Whites) also love the deepness of the bottom of the cage. They love to dig in the bedding, and this cage allows for quite a bit of it! They can totally hide in it - they love it! I had to replace the water bottle because it wasn't working properly, but that might have just been my bottle - it looked well made and everything. The one hamster we have in the cage right now LOVES the wheel, and she might actually use it too much - it's starting to bend just a little bit, but nothing to really worry about. I hear a lot of people complain about their hamsters chewing on this type of wheel, but mine hasn't been doing that. She loves climbing up the side of the cage onto the 2nd floor instead of going up the stair thing(which you can't really do in a plastic cage - they usually have a very small amount of wire - not enough to really climb on). You can't add tunnels to it is the only downside, but I knew that when I bought it. The door is sometimes a little hard to open and close, but it's no big deal. All in all, I really like this cage b/c it's so easy to clean, and it fits one of our hamsters personalities - she loves to climb & she loves her wheel - it just really fits her. Simple, but good!!!

Better Than Plastic Tunnels!!Apr 19, 2011

I like the fact it has ramps that you can easily wipe off and don't accumulate a bad smell, the only way to clean the tunnels is to soak them! The mice can't escape. They do stick their noses through the wires so they have rubbed the hair off the area around their noses. I am going to get a hammock to put in the empty space in the corner. The only complaint that I have is that trying to take the "top" off, the wires are very hard to seprate from the base. I don't mind the seperation trouble as much I minded the stink from the tunnels!! I would reccomend this product!!

Wonderful itemJan 03, 2009

We bought this for our kids to put the new addition to their hamster pet family. It was easy to assemble and the kids love it! I think the hamster loves it too. It's easy to carry and more importantly, easy to clean. It's taking the rigours of movement from my three year old quite well. I would recommend this product.

Dwarf hamster escaped and lostDec 03, 2011
By J. Kalis WARNING BEFORE YOU BUY! Our dwarf hamster escaped and we never found it! My 6 year old son ended up with 15 dwarf robo hamsters, that's another long story, but then they started fighting and got scabs on their backs and I needed a bunch of extra cages to separate them so they could heal. I used a bunch of buckets and random tubs but I eventually bought 5 of these. Pros: The hamsters get a lot of air and they are easy to see. Cons: Wheel is extremely noisy (noisiest we have, and we have tried 5 kinds) , the water bottles are not reliable, attaching the wire top to the base is a pain when you have to clean the cage out, and we now have 14 hamsters because we had 3 escape from these cages and we never found one of them. The space between the sides and the top is too large for dwarf robo hamsters and they climb up the wires and slip out the top. We fixed this problem by wrapping pipe cleaners in a zig zag pattern over every space that was possibly too big and no more have escaped since then.

OUR HAMSTER GOT HER PAW CAUGHT AND HAD TO HAVE IT AMPUTATEDJan 04, 2011
By SunnisMimi We purchased one of the 3 story blue hamster cages a few months ago and wanted to share our a story about these cages. This morning my daughter's hamster was found with her left front paw stuck in the corner of this cage.. I had to use wire cutters to cut through the wires and pry apart the cage to release her mangled paw. We then rushed her to the vet, where she had to have her paw amputated. We went to our local PetCo and purchased a new plastic cage with no wires, after spending $234.00 at the vets to save our precious little Sunni. Please consider getting rid of the wire cages and / or recommending that the cages with no wires be used. This was a terribly traumatic morning for us, and we would not want anyone else to have to go through this.
Regards
