By Karen Bought this for my two baby red eared sliders and I place it in around 2 inches of water in a 5 gallon tank. I didn't soak it beforehand (which you should!) so I turns my water yellow very easily, but I think it'll stop in a few days. I've noticed that one of my babies likes to take bites out of the bark! I'm not underfeeding her or anything, I guess she just likes to chew? I don't know if it's harmful and I really hope it's not cause I love both of them to death. Also, it's made from real trees. That means expect strange stuff that has grown on it. You can try rubbing it off like I did, but the strange unidentifiable substance wants to stay! I hope it comes off soon or isn't harmful... Overall I think it's a good product, my turtles love to bask on it and go under for privacy (or when I scare them : Will I buy again? Probably not, the stuff that grew on that isn't bark is pretty disgusting. The first time I washed it with water, a lot of bark came off and it dirties water very easily.
