They don't lastDec 31, 2010
By herlock I ordered two of these 150W lamps and neither bulbs lasted more than approximately 1500 hours. Half of what they're supposed to. Expensive. Where does one complain?

Good sellerOct 25, 2010

I wanted a bulb with little visible light to put in my bathroom which is very cold in the morning, to keep my sweet little wife warm while she gets ready for work without having to bring in a space heater. As with any heat lamp you need to make sure it is screwed into a porcelain or ceramic socket, not a plastic one- the plastic could melt if you leave it on very long.
I had a problem with a bad bulb and the seller contacted me personally and fixed the problem. I now have the porcelain heat bulb with no "visible" light (only infrared light/heat), which works perfectly as a heater for my bathroom and goes on along with the lights when the switch is turned. Even better than before. Excellent service.
I suppose if it works for my wife then it will work for your reptiles as well.

DecentAug 29, 2010
By B. Davis We're using this light to warm the baby during diaper changes. The light is fairly bright in the visible portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, so we ended up installing it at an angle (at his feet) so he wouldn't inadvertently stare into it. Pretty decent overall, although the heat predictably drops off with distance and a 250 watt version might be better for our application. Otherwise a good deal and surprising durability for an incandescent light. Amazon thru in some airbags which promptly deflated coming up to the altitude of Los Alamos, so the light got knocked around in transit.

Keeps the Cage Warm/Good LongevityMar 10, 2011
By Robert Ingalls I use mine as a 24 hour heat source and my previous two lasted between five and six months. Not to shabby for the money. I'm heating a 55g tank pairing the incandescent with an undertank pad and it gives me a solid 90 degrees near the bottom.
Edit: Most recent bulb lasted less than 1500 hours. I will update my feedback for the next one.

Nice heat lampDec 22, 2010
By David R. Riley I like the fact that this lamp is a deep red and not so bright like the heat lamps found at Home Depot and the like. I use mine for keeping my chickens warm at night and this helps them sleep. The heat produced is very good and works as advertised.
